Biblical Christian Giving: Take Care of Your Family

Take care of any widow who has no one else to care for her. But if she has children or grandchildren, their first responsibility is to show godliness at home and repay their parents by taking care of them. This is something that pleases God. … Give these instructions to the church so that no one will be open to criticism. But those who won’t care for their relatives, especially those in their own household, have denied the true faith. Such people are worse than unbelievers.” (from Paul’s 1st letter to Timothy)

Why is it that 99.9% of sermons about Christian giving focus on tithing, but not on taking care of our families?

Christians are COMMANDED to take care of our family members.

However, Christians are NOT commanded to tithe 10% of their earnings to a pastor or to a religious institution.

Why are the widows being neglected, while the pastors live comfortably in nice houses and draw large salaries?

I have had the joy of walking with the Lord for 40 years. I'm so thankful for his salvation, and for His love and leading through the years.
